What actually drives the price

• Floor area — the main factor, which is why honest pricing is tiered by sqft rather than "from S$X" teasers.
• Carpentry density — a home lined with full-height wardrobes and feature walls has far more emitting surface than the same floor area with loose furniture. Expect a S$100–300 surcharge at the extreme, and be wary of companies that only mention this on the day.
• What's included — before/after readings, a written report and a re-treatment guarantee are the difference between a verified result and a nice smell. Cheap quotes typically exclude all three.

Cheaper alternatives, honestly assessed

• Ventilation (free): genuinely helps, but with the source sealed inside carpentry, reaching safe levels passively can take months to years — and levels rebound whenever the home is closed up with aircon running.
