Testing · Singapore
Not sure? Measure first.
A S$180 testing visit gives you room-by-room formaldehyde readings against the WHO guideline — so you decide with numbers, not smell. Fully credited toward treatment if you book removal within 30 days of your test.
What your report tells you
Each room gets a reading at breathing height under closed-up conditions, plus spot checks inside wardrobes and cabinets where emissions concentrate. Against the WHO guideline of 0.1 mg/m³, results fall into three bands:
- 0.06mg/m³ and below — comfortably safe; no action needed.
- Around the guideline (0.09mg/m³ to 0.12mg/m³) — borderline; re-test after a few weeks of ventilation, or treat if infants or pregnant women are moving in.
- Above 0.13mg/m³ — elevated; source treatment is the reliable fix, and your S$180 is credited when you book it.
The report is yours either way — including if the numbers say you don't need us. Roughly a fifth of tests come back safe, and we tell those owners exactly that.
Testing questions
How much does formaldehyde testing cost in Singapore?
Our testing-only visit is S$180 including GST: room-by-room readings with a calibrated professional meter and a written report benchmarked against the WHO 0.1 mg/m³ guideline. The full fee is credited toward treatment if you book removal within 30 days.
Can I just buy a formaldehyde meter online instead?
Consumer handheld meters (typically S$20–80) use semiconductor sensors that cross-react with alcohol, cooking fumes, perfume and humidity — side-by-side tests routinely show them reading several times too high or too low. They are fine as a rough trend indicator, but not something to base a move-in decision on. Professional electrochemical meters, calibrated against reference standards, are what testing services use.
When does testing-only make sense instead of booking removal?
Test first when the situation is ambiguous: a renovation completed more than a year ago, only one or two new furniture pieces, no noticeable smell, or a landlord/developer dispute where you need numbers. If your renovation just finished and the smell is obvious, levels are almost certainly elevated and most owners book treatment directly.
How is the test conducted?
We ask you to keep windows and doors closed for 8–12 hours beforehand (overnight is ideal) so readings reflect real living conditions. On the visit we measure each room at breathing height, plus inside wardrobes and cabinets — the highest-emission points — and you receive the report on the spot.
